    A Very Virgin Christmas Part.2

Here's the second installation of our Christmas campaign for Virgin! They liked both designs so much they couldn't decide between the two, so have decided to run both of our designs alongside each other. Lovely stuff!

  • Netflix Stacks

    Netflix Stacks

The Netflix rebrand is a little bit brilliant. It's not just the logo that has changed recently, the entire website has had a complete makeover that makes for a sleek and far more easy to navigate experience. We're not sure what the exact statistics are but we're pretty sure that everyone knows what Netflix is by now, so we've tracked down the people behind the design and they've got some really interesting stuff to say about the thoughts behind 'The Stack'. Check it out here!

  • Importance of Mobile Websites

    Importance of Mobile Websites

As standard every website we now design here at The Design Bank is mobile responsive. This means that when your website is viewed on a mobile device e.g. a smartphone (which is proven to be the most popular way to get online), the site will be far easier for user to navigate. Here's a few reasons why, if you haven't already, you should really look a getting a responsive website!

    • Mobile users are unique

When people are searching for things on the mobiles devices they usually have different objectives to desktop users. The difference is they are often wanting to find their information quickly, after a minimal amount of clicks and in easy to read bites. Statistics show that mobile users spend more money per single purchase than users on desktop sites, and with the recent launch of Apple Pay and soon an android equivalent, day to day tasks such as shopping and paying for parking are becoming mobile too.

    • Mobile sites get more traffic

With almost a third of internet searches being conducted on mobile devices globally, mobile website designs are just as important, if not more so, than their desktop counterparts. Smartphone users are engaging with mobile websites and apps at all times of day whether it's while watching TV, commuting or at the gym. Google even updated their systems last year to target people with mobile responsive websites, meaning if your site is not responsive your website google search rankings may suffer.

    • Keep people on your site for longer

Content that looks great on a desktop might be unreadable on a mobile device. Visitors won't stay on your site if they have to pinch and zoom or squint at illegible type, or worse yet if it runs flash or anything that requires add-ons to display in a browser. If your website isn't optimized professionally for mobile your bounce rate (people leaving your site very quickly) on mobile devices is going to be extremely high. By providing mobile visitors with an appropriate and easy to navigate  user experience you will obviously engage them more and drive more people to purchase or enquire.

    • Increased Conversions

Desktop websites viewed on mobile devices are not effecting at converting visitors into customers. Calls to action are often obscured, links and menus are difficult to click and contact pages are usually hidden. Mashable did a survey in 2012 and found that a majority of customers can't find what they're looking for on your site, they'd seek out a competitor's mobile-friendly site instead of switching to a PC to revisit yours.

    • Quicker speeds

If your site isn't optimized for use on mobiles, it can load slowly which is another thing that drives people away. A mobile-friendly site will offer a much faster service to users.

  • Hats off to Google!

    Hats off to Google!

It's been a big news week for the design world. With the Tokyo Olympics logo scandal, the New Zealand flag and Google's rebranding we're not sure which way to look! One thing's for certain though in our humble opinion; Google have got it right. Their new logo is fresh, exciting and perfectly comtemporary. Whilst keeping their signature 4 colour brand, they've completey evolved the typeface into something that's defintitely got the world talking. Here is a video by Google themselves cataloguing their growth over the past 17 years.
